Saying goodbye...

Well, today was the day... Dennis has been deployed for a year. He will spend three months in training then head off to Iraq in December. It was hard coming home to the empty house...putting away his laundry that he left in the dryer...seeing the dead spider on the floor that I sprayed last night and now don't have anyone to pick it up and throw it away for me...I guess I'll have to start using the vacuum to get them...knowing there's no need to keep the cabinet stocked with chips anymore...and erasing his Disney channel shows that he records on DVR. I would have to say that the worst part is that constant ache inside that a part of me is missing... 364 more days to go...

Celebrating my birthday

Sydney and Owen decorated my cake...

Awww...

So, as we walked around DC I kept asking my nephew, Owen, if I could hold him and he kept telling me "NO!" Then he immediately ran over to Dennis and said "Hold me uncle Dennis!"... It's hard for me to be too hurt because it's so cute!

Long trip to Virginia!

Dennis and I drove 20 hours to Fredericksburg, Virginia to visit my brother and his family and to leave our truck for them to use while Dennis is deployed. At one point throughout the trip Dennis was pulling my hair and I was punching him in the stomach trying to get him to stop...and I think I only cried once, maybe twice... However, despite the extensive amount of time in the truck together, we survived! We had thought we lost the Christmas tree (we had an extra tree at home so we were taking one to my brother) because we saw the box fly out the back but luckily all of (or at least most of) the pieces were still in the truck!

San Diego Zoo

We went to the San Diego Zoo. Dennis loves animals especially the monkeys. He hopes to have one some day...Not going to happen!!

IN-N-OUT San Deigo

Dennis had never experienced In-N-Out burger...It's more like In-N-Wait but it's still good.

Playful banter

Sometimes I think a little faster than I'm speaking and the words jumble a bit, which Dennis is quick to make fun of... My response is generally something to the affect of "I don't care, I'm pretty." However, he also took it upon himself to share this with one of my employees and now when I attempt to correct her she replies "It's ok because I'm pretty!"

Me and Paige

To our surprise, Paige has jumped in by herself several times! And P.S. she swims MUCH better than Haley!

Dennis and Haley cooling off

We gave in and bought a pool a few weeks ago (when it was over a hundred degrees everyday). It's been worth every penny! Even the dogs enjoy it!

Adventure in the backyard...

My little sister Samantha, (I'm in the big brother/big sister program), came over to swim. I was trying to figure out how to turn the filter on, so I unscrewed the cap and water began gushing out of the pool. I could not get the cap back on so I went in the house and called Dennis (who was at a friends house) to come home. I went back outside and held the cap on until Dennis got home. Dennis then left. About a half hour later Samantha and I were going to go in the house and make smores before taking her home. To my horror, the door was locked! I was locked in the back yard with an eight foot privacy fence, without a phone, in our bathing suits, with a seven year old! My only option was to climb on top of the trash can and jump over the fence. But as I peered over, I realized it was a long way down! As I was contemplating what to do, my neighbors came outside and the last thing I wanted them to see was me jumping over the fence in my bathing suit so I quickly crouched down while still on the trash can. All of a sudden it hit me! I could use the ladder from the pool! So I waited for them to go back inside, then dragged the ladder from the pool, climbed back up on the trash can and lifted the ladder over the fence. I then preceded to climb over the fence and on to the ladder. I then helped Samantha over. We walked half a mile to my moms (keep in mind we're in our bathing suits and Samantha doesn't even have shoes!). My mom then drove us home and let us back in... Quite the adventure!

My niece and nephew thought it was fun to pour the cold water on me...Dennis is laughing from a distance while taking pictures (I got him wet before it was all over though). :-)
